School of Resources and Environmental Engineering of Wuhan University of Science and Technology covers four first-class disciplines: mining engineering, safety science and engineering, environmental science and engineering, and geography. It has two doctoral programs in mining engineering and safety science and engineering, two doctoral programs in mining and metallurgical environmental engineering, two postdoctoral research stations in mining engineering and safety science and engineering; three master's programs in mining engineering, safety science and engineering, and environmental science and engineering, two master's programs in geotechnical engineering, and three master's programs in mining engineering, safety engineering, and environmental engineering. The discipline of mining engineering has been selected as one of the "Double First-Class" domestic first-class disciplines in Hubei Province. The discipline setting of the school has obvious cross-cutting advantages, with distinctive characteristics in theoretical research and engineering application in efficient extraction and deep processing of vanadium resources, deep processing and fine processing of minerals, deep underground metal mine mining and disaster prevention and control, mine safety and disaster prevention and control, emission reduction and resource recycling in mining and metallurgical process, industrial flue gas pollution control, theory and technology of ecological environment restoration in mining and metallurgy, wastewater treatment and resource utilization in mining and metallurgy. There are 101 faculty members and staff members in the college, including 80 full-time teachers, 32 professors (including 1 expert in the field of national 863 plan resources and environment, 6 special professors of Chutian Scholar and Xiangtao Scholar, 1 expert of Hubei Province "Hundred Talents Plan"), 33 associate professors, 20 doctoral supervisors, and 52 master's supervisors.Among the teachers, 9 enjoy special government allowances or are rated as young and middle-aged experts with outstanding contributions in Hubei Province, and 42 people work in major academic institutions at home and abroad.8 overseas part-time professors are employed.The college offers five undergraduate majors: mineral processing engineering (national characteristic major), mining engineering, safety engineering, environmental engineering, and geographic information science, as well as the pilot class of mineral processing engineering (national excellent engineer education training plan).Among them, mining engineering (passed the national engineering education professional certification in 2017), safety science and engineering are key (characteristic) disciplines in Hubei Province. Mineral processing engineering, mining engineering, safety science and engineering and environmental engineering are special professors of Hubei Province "Chutian Scholar Plan". The college has 4 teaching teams, such as "safety science and engineering innovation teaching team";12 people have been approved as "Baosteel Outstanding Teacher Award", "Outstanding Teaching Contribution Award", "Famous Teacher", and "Model Teacher". The college and the school of materials and metallurgy have jointly built the "provincial and ministerial jointly built State Key Laboratory of Refractory Materials and Metallurgy", "Key Laboratory of Iron and Steel Metallurgy and Resources Utilization of the Ministry of Education"; has the "National Environmental Protection Mining and Metallurgical Resources Utilization and Pollution Control Key Laboratory", "Hubei Province Vanadium Resources Efficient Clean Utilization International Science and Technology Cooperation Base", "Hubei Province Key Laboratory of Metallurgical Mineral Resources Efficient Utilization and Block Building", "Hubei Province Shale Vanadium Resources Efficient Clean Utilization Engineering Technology Research Center", "Hubei Province Industrial Safety Engineering Technology Research Center", "Environmental Pollution Green Control and Repair Technology Research Center" and other scientific research institutions. It has four departments of mineral processing engineering, resources engineering, safety science and engineering, and environmental science and engineering, and a mining engineering experimental center, a safety engineering experimental center, and an environmental engineering teaching demonstration center.
